VW Mk1 (Jetta/Golf) VDO gauges in an '83 AC?

Hi all-
Being thrifty, I'm looking at installing the 3-gauge set from a Mk1 Golf/Jetta- oil temp, pressure, and volt, into my '83 air cooled westy.

Has anyone done this? any pics/info? I've searched, but nothing popped up. Thanks all!

This is what I did. Took the top off a A1 GTI console and mounted it to the heater cover.

Nice setup! I'm going to do exactly the same gauge install as soon as I find a MK1 or even a Volvo 240 - crying to think of all the old VW's I sent to the crusher years ago. :\ Who'd even have thought we'd still be alive in 2018???

I have mk2 gauges in my van. I have them in pods on top of my dash. The hard part is running a couple of wires from the front to the back. Otherwise they hook up like any other gauges. John
