I'm restoring my 1971 camper. The fiberglass top(part with the canvas) has handles on the outside (4). Anyone know what these are used for?
I thought of removing them, filling in the holes for a cleaner look when refinishing the top.

I bet they are rain gutter attachments to mount a rack on. Pics would help. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

You referring to the black handles like the ones on my bus? If so, they are brackets for an after market roof rack like Thule or Yakima.

Yes, if those, they are often referred to as "artificial rain gutters." They're handy to have, you can easily find sets of Yakima "tower" mounts on craigslist to make use of them if you ever need to rack anything. _________________ My name's Steve and it's pronounced "Bust 'em" (cuz people think I'm Tom)
