I took the Weekender to West Virginia to pick up my uncle & made an adventure out of it.

Sweet ride and nice pics. If you've got a van like that, you've got to enjoy it at every turn!

The next stop (with VW content) was at the New River Gorge bridge. After driving across it, I turned onto the access road that winds down under it, across the river & back up the other side.

Thanks Scottn59c, I've had the Westy for a couple of years now & could never get the family to go camping in it, so I did without them.
So here it is on the street in front of the uncles place.

So I parked a few feet from the river & camped for the evening.

And woke up the next morning to the call of geese that floated by.

Anytime, I wasn't sure how much was too much, I took hundreds more, but lots would get deleted due to lack of VW content.
I also took a different route on the return trip so I could experience even more.
Here's something just north of Roanoke on 220, just outside of a little town called Iron (something (I forgot the other part)).

After getting into Roanoke, the GPS directed me down 81, until I saw an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway (exit, stage left!)

Unfortunately, after these pics, the van started having fueling issues that were ultimately resolved by removing the cover on the fuel pump relay & zip tying it closed, but had to hot foot it back, but I do wish I had video of the switchbacks I had to take the van down to get back to the main roads.

Sadly, I didn't encounter another VW camper, van, or air cooled, on the road, the entire trip.
