While I have no conversion projects in the works, I do read the occasional Subaru conversion thread and it seems like adequate cooling seems to be a frequent topic. I just ran across a conversion for sale on eBay (Ford Pinto motor) that has a pretty unique and unobtrusive custom solution for a radiator mount. Check it out.

Back in the early sheet metal age,(mid to late 1970's) a guy in Southern California, Paul Hadley (IIRC) came up with that concept when he had a Volkswagen air cooled conversion company named VangoH2O. He made engine conversion kits to install American watercooled engines in air cooled Vans(busses). He had a number of innovations, one of which was the radiator hidden in a fake spare tire cage bolted to the front end. I thought it was a great solution, as the front of the Van(Bus) looked like a regular Van(Bus) that had the spare tire mounted on the front. He had a cover that went over the whole works that was made out of fine netting type material for airflow, and it didn't look like some hack job with a radiator somehow hanging on the front. I know that spare tires on the front of the Van(bus) are falling out of favor, but back then, that's what we did. _________________ 1969 Deluxe, owned since 1973
