1973 VW camper van pop-up question?

Good morning,

I am looking for some guidance on my 1973 VW camper van pop-up canvas. I noticed that it looks different from the traditional camper vans in that it does not open on an angle, however opens similar to the Riviera model. The Riviera model seems to split three quarters of the way through the hard top but my hard top does not seem to split that way. Have a look at the pictures below, if you can offer any suggestions on what I might be looking for to replace this current set up that would be greatly appreciated.
