This Saturday I'm going on the British Car Club of Manitoba Garage Tour, thanks to my friend, who's a club member (1958 MGA and 1978 Lotus Eclat). I've been invited along on these tours since 2011. Definitely one of the highlights of my year. Everyone gathers at one member's garage at 8 AM for a take out breakfast, then we board a charter bus and visit private garages, commercial shops, and occasionally a car show. Last year one of the stops was a micro brewery. There's a lunch stop about half way - usually smokies/chips/beer or pop. The tour ends about 4:30, usually where it started, for a chili supper. It's a fun day out and a chance to see some interesting shops and projects. Cost is $25 plus $5 for the supper, which is optional.
The ACVW community is pretty small here in Winnipeg, but I could this idea being viable in other places where there are more VW hobbyists.

Love it, couple of the shops here had informal open house with food, really just an excuse for guys to hang out and talk cars. Whatever they call it I’m in😀 |
