I have been reading and have had some people tell me I need a new oil cooler with fan or one with atleast 48 pass. Is this true? Is there a oil cooler you recommend? 1977 vw baywindow.
I am slowly replacing and double checking everything involved with fuel, oil, and engine compartment temps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| I got 270K miles out of my last rebuilt (with the heads having 370-420K miles on them) running just the stock cooler. For most applications that should be enough. I run synthetic multigrade oil to help with handling the heat. |
