I am trying to fit a 1 DIN size standard Kenwood tape deck in my 72 bus, but it doesnt fit. Its an older pullout style, but I believe its 1 DIN standard. It fits in the cavity, (indented part in dash), but there is a lip that the radio sits on that makes the hole too small. Do I have to cut/trim out the metal lip to make a 1 DIN size radio(tape or cd) fit ? My friend has a 69 bus and said he had a Kenwood cd player in his that he took out and was sure that the dash was not cut. Anyone else put in a newer style 1 DIN cd or tape deck in their bus? Did you have to modify the opening to make it fit? Thanks for the help

67 and newer type 2's will need the opening trimmed to fit a modern DIN radio. Becker and Blaupunkt made DIN radios that fit the hole correctly. The Becker that fits is a Europa II TR, not that this helps but just as a useless bit of trivia. |
