I'm thinking of purchasing a Zwitter this is a picture of the dash.
My understanding is that the Zwitter ashtray had no trim bezel around it so would a later oval ashtray fit the hole or would you have to hack the dash to fit it or is this a oval dash out of a 53 with the starter button to the left of the speedo like in the photo.
Any help is appreciated

That is not a zwitter dash. In addition to the ashtray I also don't see a starter button to the left of the speedo. I see something but it is not in the right spot. The car is probably an '54 or '55 oval that has had a split window grafted in. Any pictures of the rear window? _________________ Chris

Check out the car. In addition to checking the back window as previously mentioned, check the vin and body numbers against the technical data here on the website. Some other quick checks that could rule it out as a later oval are: it should have the round holes with no mesh in the front for heat in the heater channels, not the oval with the mesh. Also, take a quick look at the vin plate. Four rivets holding it on would be zwitter, two rivets will definitely be an oval era car. Also look for the big fuse box next to the gas tank and not the small 2 fuse box. |
