Best spot for a fuel pressure regulator? Dual Dells, doghouse tins...
In the gallery I see alot of them mounted on the front of the doghouse tin, upper left. Easy access seems best in case of leaks. And away from electrical... Any best known spot?

I stuck mine dead center of the shroud, but I wouldn't say this is ideal. My placement came as I was following an example from someone in the performance forum.

I happily drilled & thread-serted right smack dab in the middle of the top of the shroud, and then I started my car. "Oh, it leaks? Well crap.."

The distributor is pretty much underneath of it so if there was a serious failure of the regulator that involved leaking, it may not be the best situation...

I wanted to be able to quickly remove my engine and have nothing attached to the chassis, including a voltage regulator, so I got an alternator and bolted my FP regulator and gauge to the shroud. Almost 3 years later now, no leaks or problems:

I used Rivnuts to mount the regulator, rivnuts are very strong and seal up the hole that was drilled for them, really well.

Nice, it looks clean.
Are you running a single fuel fitting off each carb? One of mine has a double, but thinking running each singles is more simple.

Bringing this one back from the dead.

Any other suggestions for FPR mounting spots/dual carb fuel hose routing?

Where'd you get that FPR with the gauge built in, Split 66'?

My mechanic friend added this set up to my bus engine. No holes were drilled. Small angle iron piece welded up.

I had a pressure gauge at the brass "T" fitting until the gauge started leaking. I just install it when needed now.

I know some folks don't like hoses full of gas above the bowl of the carb. Gas can drain back into the carb when the engine gets shut off.

Carbs come off & Fuel lines remain with the bus when the engine is pulled.

I ran my fuel line along the left frame rail so that I have the filter first out of the tank, over the trans and the elec fuel pump on the left frame rail just about over the axle. I drilled a hole in the vertical area just to the rear of that and mounted a Holley pressure regulator there with a 90 degree fitting for the supply, the left port for a gauge and the right port a barb to supply a T'd line to a pair of Kad's.

I would not want to put anything over the engine. I can't really as I spliced in a bay window access hatch. But for fire's sake, I would not put anything over the engine and by the fan would I want to suck it into the fan and then blow it all over the motor?

I had an Empi pressure reg that was not regulating too well and was also leaking fairly well. The set up above vas the version 2.0

Found an alternative spot for my Holley FPR that is clean and out of the way but still accessible. Originally, I had it in the engine compartment behind the shroud but it was a temporary spot so when I pulled my motor recently, I looked for a new location and settled on the upper tranny cradle. My plan was to drill holes and screw it in place but the pre-drilled holes on the bracket are spaced too wide. Then I found a big ole hose clamp and gave that a try and it snugged it down pretty well. Because the cradle gets wider towards the bottom, there is no risk of the clamp sliding down. Another advantage of this location is I can swap motors and still have it regulate fuel.

I just screwed my Malpassi Filter King straight to the Fan Housing using short fat self tappers - had no issues.

Homemade 6mm copper pipe Hard Line Kit into my Kadrons, using olives and BSP compression fittings straight into the carbs, soldered a T connector to the twin carbs behind the fan housing lip, just out of sight.

Ultimate goal was to minimise the amount of rubber pipe in in my fuel lines, and it also makes taking the engine out much easier, with only the Fuel Pump Inlet to remove.

I went behind the fan shroud to avoid fire leaks with just enough adjustment sticking up over the top. You only see the adjuster and lock nut. Fuel lines are secured onto shroud. You only need to adjust them once, or any time you pull the motor for something.

Just now noticed this question, I'm a bit late to respond but the regulator is a Holley 12-804, with the Holley liquid filled gauge, and adapters to fit it all together. 10 years later it's all still working correctly. I did replace the woven hoses with Ethanol proof rubber lines, through out. The fuel filter is behind the firewall, over the trans.

EDIT: Adapters for connecting FPR and gauge.

Why not just use the cb performance electric pump?

It's internally regulated at 3.5lbs

Kadrons operate best at 1.5 psi, is why I use a mechanical FPR.

Just buy the Carter, it's cheaper.

Mine pumps at 3.25psi, which should be fine for the Webers I have on but I was getting a gas smell after driving so I bought the regulator to drop it down to 2.5. Didn't resolve the smell but now I know my pressure is consistent and I can swap motors or use Kadrons with no worries.

Very nice!! Got photos of the back and what the connections to the carbs looks like?
