| Any reputable shops in or around Ann Arbor, Michigan? I suspect my clutch is on its last legs and I'm new to the area. I have heard good things about "University Foreign Car" in Lansing, but I'd rather not drive that far to have it looked at. I couldn't find much in a search of the forum. |

Hey man I'm from down that way, currently in Marquette, I asked one of the large FB groups 'Buses by the beach' if they knew anyone around your area!
You should go to Buses By the Beach camp out in may, good way to meet the other VW people near you especially if you're new!
Also theres a member by the name of "Yonce" that might know of a good mechanic his location is in Saline. |

I’m from Ann Arbor. My ‘86 had the water pumps and basic service done at Orion Automotive on Jackson Ave. There is also Monks in Waterford
Orion services 3 Vanagons including mine. They are very thorough yet pricy. I would trust them with a clutch. Rich, the owner was an on the road mechanic in the 80’d as a dead head. Servicing buses at dead concerts.

The deduction I came to after much research, probably too much, was that Monks was where to go for restoration quality work. Ultra fine detail. And Orion was perfect for jobs I don't want to handle, but will be done right.

I went in yesterday and spoke with the owner (I believe). Seems like a great place. |
