I did a search and came up blank. My question is I have a rear hatch lock and no key, there is a number stamped on the little piece at the end of the lock. The problem is the number is all 8's and 6's or maybe 9's. So which way up do I read it as it mskes a large difference to the actual number.
I do not have the other locks so please no helpful take the door look out and look at that please.
Thanks in advance. _________________ 1990 Vanagon GL _ Brunhilda (marked up as a Caravelle from new!) Just over 1/4 million miles, custom exhaust

Take it to a locksmith he should be able to figure it out and cut you a key. You might be surprised...the hatch lock might be the same key as he rest, it just won't open with a worn key. That's what happened to mine! I guess because the hatch is the least used and is isn't worn so it is the first to stop reponding to a worn out key. I had a key cut to code and all of a sudden the hatch started working. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

Depending on the model you have...
In the above picture, the top of the key code is on the right of the picture. Said otherwise, if you were to rotate the picture 90 degrees counterclockwise, you could read it normally.
In this picture, the top of the key code is on the left of the picture. Rotate clockwise to read.
