Going thru old stuff in my spare time, and came across some 82 mm big bore, remember tearing down the old engine that came in my 62 delux back in the 80s, my friend had lost a cyl and head so needed repair, put these in it with new rings and and used head, ran great! down and dirty repairs we use to make, got then engine back in trade for something, can't remember much more about them other then the rings were hard to find. Specs, 102 long cyl. 1.5x1.5x4 rings, 20 mm pin, 90mm head dia. 87 case dia, thought the case side dia. was unique!

Nice. Thin rings on those - should wind out pretty good rpm-wise.

I have a set of EMPI 40hp "BIG BORE" 82mm P/C's. These were made by Mahle back in the 60's. I guess they were the "first"
big bore P/C's made for the 40hp VW engine. I'm thinking Mahle eventually went to 83mm and still maintained a thick cylinder wall.
I've notice that at their cyl. base, they kinda go "inwards". The regular 83mm cylinders just go straight up.
