I hope this hasn’t been beat to death I’ve done some searching, and looked through the sticky so here goes. I’ve got a 4 seater sandrail that’s going to be driven mostly out in ocotillo wells (dirt). What fronts can I run that aren’t going to Kick a bunch of rocks up in my face ? |

But the rock that tire picks up & throws at you is gonna be the size of a grapefruit. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

The tractor tires with grooves kick up less than the rib ones. They all are very heavy for a sand car and the handling is not great, and most also require tubes, more weight and bother. None seem to balance well either, but they last until rot wins.
I was happy for years with a pair of totally worn down stock bug tires, and then a pair of stockers buffed down for recapping. Does anyone recap anymore?
I think some new stock bug tires would actually be better than my tractor tires as far as handling and rock kicking goes, but the tractor tires look much better....

I always ran smoothies on my mid engine rail. Ran at Octillo, Glamis, and etc. No problems. Always wore goggles and a bandana because right turns are a rock/sand thrower I a rail.
A friend used 'used tires" that were so worn out for street use because he could get them real cheap. |

ive ran motorcycle tires on the front of our mostly street rail for the last 4 years and they are barely worn. ive wondered how they would do off road and on sand as they are pretty much grooved smoothies. tire buddy of mine said bike tires are pretty thick? also, no tubes |

Thanks everybody for the input, ended up with these we’ll see how they do. 60 bucks a tire I won’t be heartbroken if they don’t work out. Carlisle 7.60x15 |

Those look like the same (Pulsar) Spindle Mount Rims I Have... I have a set of Brand New Rims, Brand New 3 rib tires mounted, & new bearings...
I'm not going to use them on my Baja & I already sold my Rail... LOL! OOPS!!!
I should post them up in the classifieds!
If anyone is interested in them PM me though... Cuz, I won't be posting them in the classifieds yet. I have a bunch of stuff to take pics of a Bug, Dune Buggy, 2 - Chassis, lots of extra parts... & then post them all... I've just been so damn busy!!! :-/ |

Use my rail in the desert and mountains. My front tires are 205/75/15 trailer tires. So far no problems.
