|
|
I'm currently piecing together cooling tins for a 1600cc that seemed to be running hot. I'm junking the Taiwan chrome which fit poorly, leaving big gaps for hot air to sneak in. My real deal VW tin also has some unused holes which I want to close up. Anybody know what they're supposed to be for? I can find no reference on the BIG hole. The Medium hole appears to be for a tube running up to the oil filler, which this motor doesn't have. The Small hole ....I have no clue.
Little help?

The large is for the preheat tube for the air cleaner and the small is for the case vent that runs from the oil fill and has a rubber tip under the tin. It's a case vent. _________________ Glenn

FIWY
split buses don't use a 2" pre-heat. Here is where it goes in a later bug:
there are a number of different versions of the tin pieces.
This is a set for a 1600dp in a 63 SC:

Awesome. Thanks. I still have the 3rd mystery hole.. The big one, the case vent from the oil fill, and the...?
I'm thinking I'll just plug them all and call it a day. _________________ Measure carefully..metal stretchers are expensive. |

I think that may be a 73/74 bug smog thing. scope out late model bug owners manuals. Not something you need. If you don't feel like finding the correct tin, just plug what you are not using.
It can be timing consuming to assemble a nice tin set. |
