Do original windshields have tint film like this?

can you feel an edge with your fingernail?, looks like an aftermarket application of film. VW does have a greenish tint windshield but it is throughout the entire glass... and it looks like there is slight green tint on the outer border.

If the windshield has a wide dark tint strip across the top, it may bother your vision. This ain't no normal car with a steeply sloped windshield so the vertical effect of the tint band is heightened.

Otherwise that overall light tint is probably going to be fine.

I wonder if that's an added film, perhaps something like 3M Crystalline, which comes in relatively light tints such as 70% - 90% but are particularly good at blocking infrared heat.

A few folks here have had this added to windshields and door windows to block heat and it's been on my wishlist for a few years (need a new windshield first).

I'd think it's an added film or tint... looking at the picture there are: white (the paper towel), light tint (the glass) and stronger tint (the film or extra tint).
