Umm, that's a Dodge antenna, the OEM one looks like this:

actually that one you showed me is from a flying j truck stop I believe.
that bus allways had that antenna, I guess i'll need to show you on one of the other busses.

I’ve been doing it wrong all these years on the 72. I use my left hand while sitting in the drivers seat  I wish the PO of the Xatie’s 76 bus had a chance to view this video before he drove it through the car wash

Somewhat, but in a much more Teutonic style, and it requires the additional use of your finger tip to completely stow it. Regular waxing or the occasional wipe with an oily rag is also required for smooth operation.
I know, it sounds complicated, but good things are worth the extra effort.

Your antenna is quite stiff, go over the entire thing with some #0000 steel wool and maybe lightly oil like busdaddy stated it so it actually opens and closes properly.
Now you can make another video about cleaning it up too
