Has anyone used a electrical Vapor Digital Gauge in a rail buggy or VW before? I saw a forum about this gauge set up but after looking in to it I don't think that the speedometer part will work for a actual car wheel.
My speedometer cable broke therefore I'm looking for other options.

The trail tech kit comes with a magnetic bolt that goes on the brake rotor for a MC or ATV, then the pick up is drilled to be mounted on the brake caliper. If you could get the magnet to stay on your wheel, and find a place to mount the receiver/pickup, it would work. Vapors wheel sizes are customizable, but may not be 100% accurate.

This would be nice. I don't see a universal option unfortunately.

could you just mount the magnet to the CV joint and fab up a bracket off the trans for the pick-up?

I was picturing the front brake drum but I like your CV idea as long as it handles that diameter ok and is adjustable which most are but this one doesn't mention it which makes me wonder why they don't offer anything non-vehical specific.

Not sure how just the magnet that comes in the kit would stay on the front wheel, then you could mount the pick up on the front shock. I dont know how close the pick up has to be to get the signal. I will take my bike pick up and move it a foot away and see if I can get a signal.

I got an email from the guy that sells them on here, he said I'll need a speedometer extension otherwise the kit is pretty much complete. I'll call him tomorrow to get more information but if the kit is complete as he claiming I'll buy one. For a buggy it sure would be nice to replace all them gauges with a small digital cluster.

I found some other information through google (forgot the site) but it sees that the rpm is a bit erratic. Has anyone experenced that?

I spoke with the seller this morning, the gauges no longer comes with tachometer as they were erratic to start with. The package comes with a kit to attach the speedo to the rear disk brake, if you have drum you need to get an extension or something ($11 extra). For aircooled temp reading it comes with an adapter that attaches to one of the spark plugs. I think I will skip on the kits due to not having a tachometer and I will probably wait till they improve the RPM reading.

I was kinda the opposite. I think nothing displays rpms as well as a needle guage. As for the speed sensor, I'm sure there's a lot of ways you can skin that cat. I'd just be worried about that Tach bit. If they can't get that to work right what else is iffy?

?i just spoke with trailtech the last couple weeks and the tech was explaining how to hook everything up including the tach.he actually quoted me on a vapor stealth and said the tach is a digital numarical readout and a bar graph.i think they still come with the tach from what the company told me.

Very well could be the case but the seller that posts them for sale on Samba does not provide them with a tach.

There are several threads on the internet about the rpm issue. I'll will consider buying two kits if they can fix the problem. Some of the threads mentions messing with some of the programming settings to get it to work but accuracy is still questionable. https://www.google.com/#output=search&sclient=...mp;bih=653

i would steer clear of that vendor,i emailed him about a vapor stealth model and he doesent know what im talking about(he should know what that is being a vendor).i just got off the phone with trailtech directly,i asked them if they made the stealth model still and they said,of course, its the black version.then i said i was told that they dont have a tach anymore, the guy on the other end of the phone laughed a little and said "no they have always had a tach function, thats one of the key fetures of the vapor".you can order directly from trail tech, then at least you know your getting the right thing.

If you end up getting the setup please let us know how it works. I am ready to try it one of the sand rails but there are no reviews of VW owners to warrant the purchase.
