Porsche 356 engine tinware

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to identify this piece of tin ware, it came with a load of 356 parts, from what I can gather its the end cover plate however the cut out is different and wondered if this tin ware was from an industrial engine of different carb set up?

Any thoughts?

I believe it is from a 2-piece case 1500 Normal (type 546) vintage '52/'53
