|
|
Haven't started my '95 EVC in a couple of month. Really hard time starting it today. Opened engine hood & was blown away by all the leaves I saw. Then I noticed the damage to the bulb looking things above the engine Trying to figure out what that's for. Partial part number visble, but rest can't be made out due to damage. Can't make out the part number from the picture I found on the web.
As I look on the web, I see '95 engine compartments that has these "bulbs" & others that don't. Suspect this may be related to my A/C. Looking through my VW official factory manuals & searching the web. Thought posting here may be faster.
The first image below just shows a clean engine compartment (not mine).
Below is the damage I found:

Thatβs a vacuum reservoir and your rodents have nicely chewed the cheapest thing to repair in the engine bay. I think they have chewed through the wall so you need some Abs cement or epoxy to build up that damage and get it to hold vacuum again
Inspect everything in the bay for Mickey Gnaws _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |

I also posted on FB and that's what several other people said as well. Just picked up some JB Weld. _________________ '95 Eurovan Camper (2.5L)

Get the hood padding down while wearing a mask, too. _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |

Maybe it needs to be a separate thread, but I put mothballs in all my stored cars to keep the rodents away.
I've found some sold in porous bags.
I've hear that the napthalene (?) causes some corrosion problems but so far it seems to be a good answer for me. _________________ Al Brase
