reverse lights wire

Anyone know where the wire is that turns the reverse lights on when in reverse in a 1980 Van? Mine are constantly on right now.

you sure the switch in the back, on the trans is not stuck on? 4 speed? or do you have an automatic

It could be stuck, I'm not sure where the switch is. It's a standard 4-speed manual.

switch is back on the trans,
crawl up under it, you should see the connection near the shifter
bet if you pull one of the wires the lights go bye bye
one of my diesels did the same thing, I'm too lazy to crawl up there and repair it Brick wall

I haven't taken the time to get messy yet, but we'll be going out of town this weekend (we're caravaning with a few million others), and I'll want to fix it before then.

Are we talking about the two wires that go to the plug on the driver's side front of the tranny?
