I want to reconnect my Brake Warning Light on the Dashboard. I have a 1975 T2b Baywindow Bus.
The wiring digram from Bentley Manual tells the red wire which comes from the master cylinder shall be connected to terminal "K" on the Brake Warning Light.
The red wire is also connected to connector "T1d" behind the dashboard.

But I couldn't find a red wire, nor the connector T1d.

Can anybody tell me where connector T1d is located and how it looks like?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm..., T1d says it's a single connector on the instrument cluster, the blue charge light wire also shows a T1d connection...

The red wire is found in the 3 or 4 wire small harness that leads up the nose from the master cylinder and horn, in along with it will be a black wire and a black/red wire. I do recall some slightly odd wiring or colors happening in 75 only on that circuit, but I can't recall all the details of it right now.

T1d is just a single connector plug. It shows as being in Current Track, #42 for the 75 bus electrical drawing. It is not involved with the brake lights. The power for the brake lights does come through T8 an eight pin connector.

this is a 1977. Don't know if it is the same style as yours. There is an early and a late style.

Thanks guys for your replies.

@SGKent Indeed it’s the same style and setup.
Now I’m curious where the red wire on the 4 pin Brake Warning Light as seen on your picture is leading to? Which connector and which location?

The drawing you posted clearly shows it going to the brake light switches.

Yes that's clear to me, but I'm searching the single connector T1d.
As listed before, connector T1d is behind the instrument cluster, but where should it be normally?
Maybe one of the previous owners cut the red wire and removed it.

This is what VW single wire connectors looked like:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The wiring diagram says T1d is "on the cluster of the instrument panel", but that would
be very odd if true. All other VW's with dual-circuit brakes I've seen have the wiring for the two brake
light switches spliced together near the master cylinder (under the vehicle on busses).

There may not actually be a T1d. The wiring on my own '71 bus did not match up exactly with that
shown in the Bentley wiring diagram, either. This goes x infinity if there's been PO's messing with the
wiring. In that case, pretty much anything is possible. I would suggest you physically trace that red
wire to see what's up.

Sometimes I really don't understand. Maybe it is age.

Follow the red wire in the photo. Hint - it is the ONLY one left to go into the connector in the photo if you follow the yellow-white, black and brown wires.

Thanks for the photos and explanation. I assume some of the PO messed up the wiring. I wiil trace the wiring from the master cylinder and will see where the red wire will end.

I really don't understand the question. Here is where that connector is on my 1977. If yours isn't there then maybe the PO cut it, or it is laying on the bottom of the dash. That looks to be 3 or 4 inches max from the switch.

yes. Is that a problem? Go slow, chase one circuit at a time.

No it isn't a problem and I know how to chase the circuits, but to be honest I'm a little bit lazy. Embarassed
I thought if somebody could give me some direction, it will save me some time. I'm happy with your picture and explanation.

I get it. Unfortunately there is no magic wand, wiggle the nose thing.

Check. I found the connector between the VW Spaghetti. As expected the red wire was disconnected from the Brake Warning Light Smile
