Before I order the new harness, I just want to be completely sure on this.
Looking to order 75-79 Super harness (the car is a 79 vert).
Car has been converted to carbs - I believe that the FI harness is not part of the new harness. But is there more on the 75-79 harness than I need?
I just did a dash to rear harness in a 74 and they are $75 cheaper - trying to understand what is different and if it makes more sense to get a 74 harness. Cost is not the issue. Functionality and installation is.
Dealing with internal or external regulator is a non-issue. This car has a AL82N so I understand the jumpers and all that for the regulator.
I waded though 14 pages of posts and have not seen the answers. Thanks in advance for your help. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.

The only difference I can imagine is a fuel pump wire in it to the front, the rest of the FI uses it's own separate harness. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Does it have an electric fuel pump or is a different motor in it? X2 with bus daddy on wiring + you will need a wire for fuel pump if electric. |

If cost is not an issue, the difference between me buying a late bug vs. passing on the sale would be how easy it is to convert back to FI. Consider the later harness if a sale is possible.
I don't see a problem with an earlier harness IF you've double-checked the various switches in the cabin as being compatible. There were quite a few dash changes around '74, but I don't know how the wiring changed length, color, or number.
If you go through with a non-standard year wiring swap, please let us know the ease or difficulty of installation.

Sorry - missed a couple things. Car will never be converted back to FI. Conversion was done many years ago incorrectly and I fixed it a couple years ago. We do still have a electric fuel pump. Running a wire for that is not a big deal... Just did it on a 74 Super that we shipped out last week.
With harnesses anymore is to go with the easiest and most correct. Less time and less expense for the customer.
Before I started researching, I thought the FI harness was part of the later harness, hence the added expense. But that is not the case. So, right now, its more of a curiosity as to the difference. I still have the instructions from the 74 I just did.
Thanks all for your help. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.
