Hi All,
I was really hoping for some help with this and apologies in advance for my very limited knowledge, I am no mechanic but trying to learn as I go!
I bought my dream Kombi three years ago (1962 RHD German Splitty), she was fully restored by the previous owner 8 years ago.
I have a big trip planned in October from Sydney to Melbourne & back again which will be over 2,000 Km’s so I have been doing some maintenance in preparation & replacing the front wheel bearings is part of this.
What I know
• Front Beam – 68 bay window ball joint
• Spindle – I think that is original
• Brakes – AC Industries 5 wide (5 x 205) Disk conversion Kit (From SoCal Imports, I believe)
I guess my Question is What Wheel bearings do I need?
Will it be for a Split Bus or a Bay Window?
Thanks in advance

I think you're just going to have to remove them and find some part numbers, or contact AC Industries.
Assuming the bearings look good, a simple clean and re-pack should be just fine.

Thanks Culito, agreed that was my next step, I wanted to change the bearings as I am getting a little scraping sound when I turn right.
A friend of mine is a mechanic and had a good look over all of the running gear and brakes and he cant see anything either.
I thought I will give the whole area a good overhaul.

I doubt it's the bearings making your noise, it's likely a flake of rust in the wrong place making noise. If the bearings were lubed and adjusted correctly going together you'll never wear them out.
