Not sure if this is wired correctly, I may have the wires reversed. I was trying to figure it out. My question is on one side of the actual light switch. There is a little brass lever that swivels and makes contact. What position is that supposed to be in I’m trying to get a good ground on the body, but I really don’t want to cut my headliner too short. Is there any other way to get a another ground because those two tabs on each end don’t seem to sit tight against the body for a ground.

One end should have metal contact to the metal of the roof, as that's the ground connection. You will need to play with the headliner to get enough out of the way for contact.
The wiring diagram shows the red goes to one end, brown to switch end, and the switch end is where the ground contact to roof metal is.
Years ago I replaced my original fixture and had to trim a bit of the OG headliner to make contact for the replacement switch. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

What is with the brass lever that swivels on the one side of the switch? What position should be in? |

Off the top of my head ( its too dark and cold to go poke around in the barn or go get the shop manual) there are 2 position switches
(on with door open, or turn on manually when doors were closed) or i think 3 position (the switch can be manually on with doors closed, or set to be on when the doors are opened. Or off completely) I may not be right here.
Maybe the swivel tab grounds to the roof? Maybe the bullet tip on the end is the ground point once the light is popped into place? I'd get a wire with alligator clips on the end and fart around with the thing to see what does what when connected to ground. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?
