J. T. Garwood cover differences early vs later serial # issues

does anybody have any info on how many versions of the cover there were for Car of the Century? and any idea as to at which numbered volume things changed? I have seen two different versions of Volume 1 cover and in two different hues of blue. one was under 500 and the other was over a 1000.

the photos at the top were switched on the later Volume 1 and were originally on the earlier Volume 2 which was also under 500.

does anyone know how many volumes were printed/sold of each?
