|
|
Just getting back into aircooled VWs after 30+ years away. I just purchased a 69 Bug, and am already sorting through ideas for upgrades. I plan to put disks on the front, using OEM parts. Does anyone have info on upgrading the rear brakes to type 3 drums? (which I understand to be wider than type 1 brakes)
Thanks! |

I’ve been meaning to do this, it should be a straight swap from the backing plates to drum.
So you need backing plates, wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware, inner and outer bearings, and drums. _________________ 69 Beetle - Daily driver

So inner and outer bearings? You do understand I'm talking about rear brakes only? |

Sorry about that, you are right the bearings do not need to be pulled. I just have it on my list when I get around to swapping them. _________________ 69 Beetle - Daily driver
