Ladies and Gentlemen,
The cruise control on my daughter’s 2011 Jetta SE 2.5L automatic is inoperative. It does not function at all. I can’t get the lights to come on or set speeds. Last year, I replaced all for wheel speed sensors due to a fault with one of them. I hoped that would solve the cruise control issue as well but it didn’t. I then replaced the brake pedal switch to no avail. I’ve checked all the fuses I could think of and they all checked out. There are no warning lights on the dash and everything else functions perfectly including tpms and brake lights.
Does anyone have any insight or more troubleshooting procedures I could use? Perhaps there is something wrong with the stalk although it seems to be in good condition and turn signals function. I’ve used the search function and other than what I’ve done it seems like the ecu may need to be reprogrammed to enable that function. I’d like to make sure that is the problem before I spend the money for that capability.
Thanks for the assistance,

Multifunction switch, brake light bulb (yes, really), & brake light switch are the usual suspects. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Thanks, I’ll double check the bulbs. Is there anyway to ops check the multifunction switch or just remove and replace?
Thanks again! _________________ 1967 21 Window Bus

Bulbs are working. I’ll research replacing the multifunction switch. _________________ 1967 21 Window Bus

All,
Back at it with my daughter’s Jetta. Cruise control is still inop. Do I need VCDS to diagnose/repair? The horn is inop as well. Could the clock spring cause both issues? I don’t want to throw the parts cannon at it so any help diagnosing would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Yes VCDS would tell you what codes all of the control modules have. If the clockspring has failed then there will be an airbag light on aswell. Without a good clockspring the car turns off the driver's airbag.
When my clockspring failed on my 2009 Jetta at 17k miles cruise still worked fine. All I lost was horn & steering wheel airbag until it got replaced. |

blankc72,
Thanks for the reply! I don’t have an airbag light but the horn doesn’t work. I should probably have mentioned that before. I have a Carly code reader and I have code DTC_03591. Control circuit klaxon, which I’m guessing is the horn but I haven’t started looking into that.
I have no airbag codes or light. Maybe this narrows the cruise control problem down to the multifunction switch.
Thanks again,
