No link but perhaps just go to a hardware store and find some tension springs that work. Loosen up everything so you can get a feel for the action. I will check if I have a picture of what mine look like and post if so. _________________ 1-0900722 die langsame grüne Schildkröte

Good plan to not remove that front flap. On the right heater boxes the rear flap doesn't close but the front one still opens. It puts out a lot less heat then the other side, but it puts out enough heat that I wouldn't want that sneaking in during the summer. I can reach across to that defrost vent and warm my fingertips. _________________

Best option might be to get one from another box. Or try to repair the old one by welding it, if it broke in a repair-friendly location.
McMaster Carr has torsion springs but not the doubled up ones. Perhaps singles could be joined to make the crossover.
Misumi may be another place to check for new. _________________ 1-0900722 die langsame grüne Schildkröte

Since this is close to the control flaps, does anyone know of any issues in drilling out the 3 rivets and removing the flaps in order to paint the boxes.
Any issues getting rivets or maybe deforming the box putting rivets back in? Is it worth going through the trouble removing them or should I just paint with the control flaps in?

I do not recommend removing the pivot. It does not look like you have any serious rust issue that would cause a failure. The factory most likely painted them after assembly. If you just want everything painted spray the heck out of it and let the runs coat everything.
If you phosphate treat it then paint it I believe it will be fine for many many years.
You can hold down the spring flap and paint behind, then let it close to get the rest too. That is what I did at least. _________________ 1-0900722 die langsame grüne Schildkröte

Paint them installed it is! Thanks, Dan! I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
