Does anyone happen to know the part number for #46 in the diagram below. Even better where I might get one?

that part and assembly comes up NLA even back into the mid-1980's. Someone like Ken Madsen of TheBusco might be able to find one if it was on North American Bays. You'll probably have to tell him what year it is on and what type induction system. _________________

Before everybody jumps my shit... I know the following suggestion is WRONG.
Okay.
So I misplaced that part. And it’s pretty damned important if you have reasonable expectations of driving your bus around town. I used an electrical hardware part. I know these as Kearnies but they are called split bolt electrical connector. Home Depot:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/6-SOL-STR-to-16-SOL-STR-Split-Bolt-Wire-Connector-6SBC-B2-5/100165861
Works fine. Totally adjustable for fine tuning the shifter and tower relationship. Soft copper so you don’t risk bending your cable stuff. |

Nothing wrong with that. They are also sometimes called barrel screws or bolts.....and several other names. You can get them in hardened steel or stainless.
The original type 3 and type 4 car part numbers are:
311 713 291 for the sleeve/barrel with the hole in it called a clamping sleeve-cable
311 713 293 for the set screw called clamping screw cable
If you Google it by the part # 311 713 291-A...it also appears in VW Audi parts lists for Jetta.
Here is one on Ebay

Thanks for all your help! The home depot fix seems to work. Meanwhile I'll keep an eye out for the original part so I can replace it eventually. _________________ 1974 Westfalia, automatic, dual-carb |

So glad I found this thread!
I am trying to remove the flex portion from the shift tube, but don't want to break stuff, seeing as this is NLA...
My question is regarding #32 on the diagram above.
Is that simply a rivet that needs to be drilled out or??
Thanks everyone! |

Have you had a chance to look closely at it? It seems to me like it's a set screw for the adjusting collar that it inserts to. Maybe and allen socket screw? |

Actually I was gonna say something like...jeez...it’s not the flux capacitor. The shuttle will survive re-entry. |
