Last weekend i bought my first beetle vw 1300 L, 1971. It was standing in the barn for 18 years. It was dusty but in original state, and it seams that no work was done on it. First wash after 18 years and it looked even better.

Dusty but SOLID. Looks like it's cleaning up nicely. Are the plans to keep it as original as possible? (I sure would)

BTW, normally I dislike door panels with speakers in them, but those small old school speakers look decent there.

My plans are to keep it as original. I have to get a new original engine 1300 ab, change all the rubber on the doors and windows, new headliner and painted in the original kansas beige.

Nice plans! That was going to be my next question, what engine, as I looked up how the 1300L model could be ordered in 1971 and saw it was either the AB 1300 twin port or the old D-series 1200.

Does it currently have an AB 1300? Are the heads single port or dual port? Thank you...

Original paint is L 91 D kansas beige. This color is not original, it's a little lighter.
