This is the last odd piece in my misc box that I kinda recognize but don't. It is made of a hard foam or felt; it is not a strainer seal - more like something in trim, or an air vent system seal. But I can't think of anything that uses it although being in that box tells me it came from a VW bus. There is no oil or grease on it.

Seems like my 1965 bug had a similar but larger rubber seal that went around the headlight buckets

it is 3 1/2 inch. It looks like a light seal but I can't think of anything on a late bay that is 3 1/2 inch.

Maybe number 28 on this? Vent seal one for front and one for cab vent?

There's some felt on the backs of the dash vents, maybe not #28, but you may be on to something. Easy enough to pull out a vent and have a look.

Just checking in to see if anyone figured it out. I haven't. It is 3 1/2" across and is made of a felt like material.

Speedometer seal on dash. Bezel to frame maybe?
