Well some of you may know me from the split bus forums or the accessories posts with my Bamboo steering wheel. I now work at a customs shop and recently had the opportunity to work on a '72 Ghia convertible for a customer.
The customer had a budget in mind and we did all we could to meet that budget, but still build a nice car for him.
The car was in very god shape when it arrived, just needed a little lovin' here and there.
What was done:
-paint (no color change)
-lowered
-CB Performance fuel injection
-1680cc jugs, ratio rockers
-seat upholstery.
- and a couple extra touches here and there.
before:
during:
after:
I hope you all approve of what was done and I hope we start to get more VWs in for some work.

You know custom touches are often a personal taste, but I really like how the steering and engine looks, but.....especially……..
Fuel injection I'd kill to have fuel injection, even while having only stock power Good way to go on that
It's the EFI System that costs almost 3 Grand, right? (yikes)

I like the way it’s put together. The engine bay looks like that’s the way the factory would have done it. Simple, yet amazing.
Good looking work!
Edit: Just saw the pinstripes on the shroud. Nice touch. _________________ Volkswagen!

Thanks for all the kind words regarding this build.
The engine bay is where a great deal of the time was spent. Keeping it looking clean and hiding many of the components was not an easy task. Behind the fan shroud hides the coil pack, fuel regulator and the idle air control block. Plus all of the fuel, idle air, and breather hoses are all done in -6an black mesh hoses with black aluminum fittings and routed cleanly from each side.
Once all that was planned then it was removed so that Q-ball, our resident pin striping wizard, had a go at the engine tin. And a small addition to the area by the rear torsion bar access port, the Owner has a thing for Indian Motorcycles.
The pin striping on the top of the fan shroud is visible through the fresh air vents in the deck lid (the rain collection pieces are missing) and in the right sunlight really stand out.
This was the first VW build at the shop and it is already gibbing the attention of many who would not normally stop in.
