What makes him a king? How much knowledge he has of BD's or how big his pile of BD parts is. Confused

OK guys give credit where credit is due. It's been Mark Merz and will always be Mark Merz whether you like it or not. He has 1)had more BD's than anyone else. 2)More rare models of BD's than anyone else. 3)Better Quality BD's than most everyone else 4) Has I think 5 BD's now probably more than anyone but Yost. Currently owns 4 rare and noteworthy BD's early 53 Dlx OG Paint and one of the nicest 54 OG paint DLX on the planet, 53 BD panel Double Door with Hatch anyone know of an earlier one? and of course the rarest of the rare 55 BD Kombi dot dot dot ah........ WALK THRU! The Donald Trump of Barndoors, look out Il Capo.......you're fired!!!!!

But I must disagree.

There is a man in a far away land that currently owns more barndoors than anyone else. He has the largest collection of RHD barndoors known...and he keeps a low profile and doesn't need to let everyone know how much he knows about barndoors....because through his humility he knows that there is always something to learn.

He is the King of the barndoors in a land ruled by a King.

The stuff in Sweden is so thin you can see your hand on the other side! If it ever does run it may shake apart! Then he can be the IronOxide King!

To me it's the guy who know's the most, has the most and rarest. Running condition is also a must.

A combination of the three makes a King not just a landslide of one.

Agreed! There can never really be a "King". Charlie H., Rich Y., Mark M., etc. are all kings in their own way. The beautiful part of all this is that they all care enough to care.

The guy in Cali I sold my 54 BD Deluxe to had more BD's in his building (at least 8 ) I only got in the office but could see the back when he counted out the bengees, including deluxes, then anybody else I have ever seen or know. Had more NOS parts and bumpers (BD) then any body I know, maybe except CH (He is very low key and I see him at every swap I am at looking and or buying parts, but being underground, he can't be THE KING, I guess

the barndoor mafia is a club. it's all about hanging out, having a good time, hooking each other up. there is a book called the transporter and microbus specification guide, where the author, david eccles refers to mark as the barndoor king. i believe david eccles is from the UK.

When I used to go Mt biking in San Fran we would drive through Marin and there was always a old ambulance parked on the road. I think that is where Mark lives. Not sure though. I knew very little about splits at the time.
