I thought I should start a new thread on this. I drained and then refilled my transmission fluid earlier today with the green fluid level straw in place and the drain plug just finger snug below it. I had only put in about 3 1/2 to 3 and three-quarter quarts and before adding more decided I should start the van and run it through the gears then pull the drain plug leaving the green straw in place and begin adding the additional fluid. I didn’t expect to see anything come out when I pulled the drain plug since I only put in three and a half or a bit more quarts but when I released the drain plug the fluid was flowing very quickly almost as if the green straw was not there but I knew it was. So, I reinstalled The drain plug. Something was wrong here and after thinking about it at length I did another round of the engine running checking transmission fluid temp and and running through the gears, then Undoing the drain plug and again very steady stream of transmission fluid is coming out again as if the green straw is not in place. So… I decided to completely drain the transmission fluid that I just put in I drained it into a squeaky clean stainless steel pan and then poured it back into the Febi-Bilstein bottles it had just come out of using a funnel and paint strainers just in case there might’ve been some debris that fell in the drain by the way when I did remove the green straw I only got about an additional half to 3/4 of a quart of transmission fluid that came out . While wiping the green plastic fluid level straw off with a paper towel the upper most ring of thread popped off. So wondering if The damaged top ring of threads on the plastic straw would cause the transmission fluid to drain past the straw where was screwed in. So now the question is do I try this again pumping in say 4 1/2 quarts with the green straw and drain plug in place and then start the engine and run it through all the gears back-and-forth and then once I get to proper temp of 35 to 45 Celsius pull the drain plug and let it drain and see what happens. By the way when I drained the transmission the second time today with the green straw in place all the transmission fluid except for about a half to maybe 3/4 of a quart came out in my drain pan and again that was with the green straw in place. when I removed the green straw after The draining fluid stream went to a drip, I got only an additional half to 3/4 of a quart and that was it. Apologies for the long post but I am really outside my comfort zone here. I had an 8 o’clock appointment for an alignment on the van about 30 miles away obviously I won’t be able to make that now and he is closed until sometime after the fourth and I was planning on leaving for Colorado Saturday or Sunday

Not really sure if its broken or not, but sound like it
I have broken my green "straw" while swapping out a new trans pan, and trying to find a source is most difficult. _________________ 2001 eurovn weekender 207k fresh batteries |

Thanks for that. I’ll also order one to be safe. Nice to have tiny odd fragile parts like this around with parts drying up on these. _________________ 2001 EV MV |

Jim Ellis site shows it as something else. It’s showing it as part #5 and labeled as plug. 13$

Does this part go in from underneath or do you have to drop the pan to insert it? _________________ 2001 eurovn weekender 207k fresh batteries |

Pull the drain plug with the Allen key and then use the Allen key in that hole and you pull this tube out. _________________ 2001 EV MV |
