I had an OKRASA installed on this car from NOS in 1996.
My car was sold at Denver Imported Motors as a new 1955 to a woman in Estes Park and it resided there until her passing in 1991. I acquired the car at an estate sale in 1994. Ive driven the car about 3000 miles since 1995.
I have kept all the OKRASA paper boxes and such, glad I did that, it has the crankshaft and Abarth NOS muffler as well. I have driven it less than 1500 miles since the OKRASA was installed and shared the car at some local VW shows until around 2010. I bought the car in 1993 from the original estate-owner.
We adopted 2 kids 12 years ago and I sort of shelved the olde cars, now that my son is older he's shown a huge interest in vintage speed, my passion in old VWs since i started in the hobby as a boy in 1983 when my dad and I aquired 2 VWS. My car is completely original and wears its factory paint with period repairs, under 68,000 miles. The OKRASA components were acquired from Belgium in 1994 by me, all new old stock and the muffler came from a 1989 acquisition. I had a family friend, an aircraft and Porsche mechanic from Kansas City, MO build up the engine in 1996 to what he and his father had done in a family VW-Porsche racing, tuning business in the 60s. Aircraft style he called it with high temp paint and other subtle style that was typical in the early 60s they did when they installed these kits in the early 60s. I'm unsure if he is still around I should look him up.
Thanks for rekindling my spirit in the hobby. It has been delightful reading the posts.
Erik

Hi John and Everett,
Nice to hear from you guys.
Not sure about the OKRASA modified Fram filter. I have several of the regular versions including a few from 356 Porsche use. Not sure, its been 30 years, haha. I should. |
