Due to the size of it, in the past I just couldn't see reading all of it. Although today I'm going to make an exception because I'm at work, making triple time due to the holiday, and have nothing to do.
So its kind of like I'm getting paid a lot of money to read it.
Completely justifiable! _________________ This thread SUCKS!!! |

I'm getting paid a buck a minute to surf TheSamba right now. A conversation with Russel would probably be worth it. _________________ This thread SUCKS!!! |

I started reading it the day it was started. I just manage to keep up with it as it goes but a couple months ago, I was at work bored off my ass and it was about 3 in the morning. I started reading and it brought back some cool memories, UZI getting his, myself and numerous others aquiring these mystical creatures. I only made it halfway that time.
It has its history highlights, some peoples self esteem got crushed at times, lots of valuable BD tech info, pics, laughs. I would say it has been granted the equivalent of Bible Status.
Its a must read thread. 5 star type shit.

I started reading the BDM post back when it was 25 pages. I drop in every time there is a new post. Loved seeing the new BDs. The most recent find gives us hope that their are still some out there than someone wants to sell you just to give it NEW life instead of breaking your bank book! _________________ Anthony

Don't know if it was "bad timing" but the once I checked it out, every single post was "Hey!" ; "Yo" ; "Dude" ; "Word!" ; "blah blah..." No rhyme or reason, no "message". This was in the post whoring wars to "make rank" days though, so it might have been a "timing" thing. But I figured if it was going to be that way, I wasn't about to read a "hunert" pages of hey's and yo's!

The BDM thread is truly an entity unto itself. Sometimes I fall a couple of pages behind, but I always have something to look forward to and catch up on. Koot, just start that mother and within a couple of pages you'll be hooked! _________________ Ken

I like to refer this thread as to what Twinwindows calls it..........A COFFEE SHOP thread. Yes there is alot of "heys", "yo" & "dude!". But there is alot of interesting posts in there as well. Lots of technical advise on these rare birds. I had no idea this would blow out the way it did? This thread started out because of people asking questions about BD's and they were all being reffered to the Barndoor Mafia? (go figure?) Then Alan asked who the BDM was? Then the rest is history.......
I still enjoy telling the story of how this BDM started out as a joke. A joke towards a couple of guys, and the name stuck to us. I am sure the hit we did in Holland made us a known establishment in the VW world? Not being cocky but I guess? And know it has become a cool club with fellow Barndoor fanatics.
I am not gonna sit here and tell anyone to go read through the 168 pages!! But alot of it is worth reading. Alot of it is chatting, but alot of the posts have helped people out with their BD's or have come up on BD's.

Kool!
I always thought it was an "inside" thing going on. Maybe if I ever get into a BD I'll get on with it. However, it is a good thing it has become somewhat of a "standard" source for you guys. Who'da thought that being a VW it would still be some kind of a rarity that not everyone really know much about! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

it may not be for everyone. it certainly helps to know some of the people or be horney for a barndoor. there has to be some connection to draw you in. i tend not to read much in other threads if i wasnt there. i rarely read threads if they are more than 3 pages long when i jump on.
when the thread started, i was a "plebian dreamer" now i am a made man. it's helped me out a tremendous amount and i've done my best to help others. i've read every single post, nearly on a daily basis including finding internet kiosks in airports and strange cities to check in with the peeps. it's really about the people and the buses. like skim said, it's brought alot of us together. that's alot of what the barndoor mafia is really about. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle
