I posted this one in the gallery and didn't get any clues. Perhaps someone here know what this 23-window look alike might be? Goliath? Mercedes?

| There's a Mercedes that resembles that in Newport Beach being used to advertise a restaurant there. |

| From all the time Ive spent on the samba, theres been many threads about split window bus look-alikes. From what everyone said they mostly came out of east germany during the cold war. Cheap rip offs |

Well, that's the thing...You see, I took that photo in Machu Pichu (Peru), and I doubt I'll be back there in the near future. The jungle was thick and I had no time to explore it any more. But you are right, it appears to have a front engine, whatever that means...

Hi Cris, Matt here. Glad to see you're back in Eugene. How was South America? Did the diesel Vanagon hold up alright? Are you back at the same house? I'll drop by next month. That picture you posted looks to be an early '50's, German built, DKW Deluxe van; front engine. It came with a tiny 4 banger, 4 cycle water-cooled engine. If you get that body, I know where there is one in Arkansas, with the front butchered off, that has all of the glass intact. _________________ "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." |

DKWs have a more squared off roof line and a opening rear hatch.
From the http://vintagebus.com/gallery.
It is a Mercedes, there is a restored one here in Sacramento.
This photo is also from http://vintagebus.com/.

By the way, if you have never looked at a DKW up close and you get a chance to, do it.

You're right, then I guess it is a Mercedes. I thought it was a DKW. _________________ "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." |

| Sounds like a Mercedes...I should have guessed it, since I have original brochures and literature for those...Have seen the DKWs in person, you can still see them every now and then in the low income neighborhoods of Buenos Aires as daily working vehicles! Hi Matt. Yes, still at the same house. Thanks all. |
