I’m replacing all of my fuel lines now is it true I need to release the pressure in the injectors first.

True?

I disconnect the fuel regulator while engine is running?
Thank you.

No no no. With the engine off just bleed off the captured fuel pressure any way you can. On the left side fuel rail there’s an 8mm bolt that can be removed for this. Place a rug under the rail and protect your eyes as you remove that plug.

If you mean that 8mm plug in the fuel injection manifold located between #3 and 4 you can install it immediately. Remove it to bleed off the fuel pressure and then reinstall it right away.

Great thank you.
I purchased 11’ of Gates Barricade 4219BF.
Is that okay?
It’s 30R14.

For the 1/2” line from pump to filter, does it need to be braided?

Avoid braided unless it's guaranteed to be Ethanol proof, the J30-R9 (or higher) stuff from your FLAPS is likely better.

Don't lose the little washer under that test port screw, things get complicated when it falls down into the abyss.

It's described well in your Bentley manual, pictures too.

Look or feel along the LH fuel rail (hard line that tees off into the injectors) for a ~1/2" high proturbance with an 8mm hex head on it.

Or try search, one of these threads may have a picture: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/search.php?searc..._chars=200

Be careful removing that screw. It's a fine thread going into aluminum, and has a thin aluminum washer underneath, that if lost, will cause major leaks.

You might want to get some of that Google on regarding non ferrous metals and magnets. Wink

Work with someone experienced on this project. You are asking questions showing you are working out if your scope on a project that can literally kill you.

We have all started there, no judgement.

Busdaddy-

My magnet reference was a joke. Thus the lol.
I know aluminum doesn’t react to magnets.
