The previous owner did some repair to the rust in the corner of the windshield and in the process damaged the wiring harness on my 62.
I need to pull the hardness out partially to repair it but trying to pull it towards the front trunk is hard. Even if I give it some slack in the middle near the dome light.
I prefer to pull it about 10-15cm towards the trunk but I can also pull it towards the back. I don’t have a headliner installed at the moment which gives more access.
The plastic around the wires is very stiff due to age and makes it hard to move.
Any tips? _________________ 1962 Beetle

Liquid dish soap will help it slip on through. _________________ Sorry About That Chief.

In areas where I can see or easily check I would be happy to use dish soap. However where I cannot I avoid using liquid soap as it tends to strip off oils and protective layers which can promote rust.
I wonder how may times some of the corrosion around window openings is caused by the use of soap on the rubber when installing the windows.
Of course not all soap is the same fcormula, but by its nature it is designed to remove oils and fats. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

I went in all dry.
The harness was damaged right where it goes into the A pillar in the trunk. I disconnected all the wires and wrapped them in painters tape then attached a wire to it.
I then pulled it from inside the car between the roof and the dome light. Was actually pretty easy. I made the repair and then pulled it back in with the wire I attached.
Seem to work like magic. _________________ 1962 Beetle
