I'm well into my repair/restore of my 81 westy and am at the point I need to get my cabinets ready for reinstall. I have been thinking about maybe replacing the cabinet doors only, just to eliminate the need for the goofy lipped T-Mouldings.

Wondering if anyone has examples of options to maybe replace and increase the door sizes enough to overlap the door opening. Maybe even square up the door openings? I plan to work with laminates over birch plywood. Laminate doors always lend themselves to using T moulding I know.

Many thanks.

Option: Are you aware that the T-moldings can be placed in hot water, stretched then re-installed into the doors for another 40 years of shrinking?
You measure the amount they've shrunken, then heat&stretch them (to regain the measured distance) and reinstall.

This is much much easier (for someone who's unafraid of building new doors etc) than building new doors.
You can refit them one-at-a time.
They might be half-stretched again in y2040....
but the cabinets will be "OG" which might carry some value.

WRT changing Westfalia cabinetry.....it's not so difficult for a skilled craftsman to build them better,
but non-OG cabinets generally need to be a much much higher level build-quality to exceed OG value.
You can't go halfway with the cabinets or value will drop significantly.
If your cabinets are in poor condition (other than the shrunken T-molding) that's a different issue.
