Might be heading to a parade? All three VWs have a garland and yellow flowers on them.

Great pic from Switzerland ! the 55/6/7 DLX has a travel advertising in the rear window. going to the Simmenfälle (Simmen waterfalls) near Lenk. I have been there many years ago and it is a strikingly beautiful area !
Also love the wine rack, they must be thirsty from seeing all that water coming down the Alps.... Very Happy

and this is a train going 'under' the Alps in Austria, not very far from the Großglockner. I am not sure about it, but given the direction of sunlight, and location of Böckstein, this could very well be part of the Großglockner summit in the background.
The (3rd VW bus to the right) DLX bus is probably a Barndoor Kohlruss coachbuilt. no rear bumper, but corner trims and the long knee height full length side panel trim. It also has an elongated rear quarter panel window. All of that is very typical for Kohlruss.
the second VW bus (non DLX) is also a barndoor.

In addition to the cool Transporters in the Hotel Wildstrubel photo, I kinda dig seeing three early generations of Beetle parked there too, a Split rear window, an Oval window and a square window, two with roof racks.

this pic really is a treasure trove, especially, since it is relatively high res. Everything in this photo is just a perfect glimpse back in time to approx 1959/60. So this is pre-turn-signal land here in Europe. Small taillights and no ugly amber warts to be seen. That's what it's about...perfection....and Switzerland is so beautiful !

Brenner pass on italian side. The structure on right is the railway switch control cabin near Brennero station and poles support the three-phase cables. Picture is taken before 1965 when the three-fase system was replaced by 3000Volts
