Thanks finster & Fish; the small house above the huts and its narrow drive match up. I was last at the pass about 20 years ago- such an incredible road to drive. |

What a great picture. Would really appreciate, to see it in higher resolution. Is that possible?

Still there, but not quite....now I need to throw up again....on todays architecture, advertising and style ( and gas prices...).
I'll take the 1960s anytime...at least the Dachstein mountain summit hasn't changed.
Hoch vom Dachstein an, wo der 'Aar noch haust...
( yes that is our official Steiermark region anthem)

it is interesting to note, how the Espresso and gas station midcentury architecture (while looking a little cheap), still is very modern, light and airy. It very much resembles the airy look and feel of the Samba buses and the Transit. They go together well. Especially with the 'airy' feeling of the Dachstein mountain and Schladming valley (Ennstal). Perfection.
Even though this is a business type post card, it feels like fine art. Truly well composed with a great angle of view and proper lens/lighting.
edit:
ha !
^
Taxi Maxi, still in business in Schladming today ! Still wearing the same logo as the 1960s DLXes.

Dachstein in Austria... somewhere on that mountain is a glacier. My dad and I skiied there for a few hours in the SUMMER 1978, when my parents and I were in Austria for a week's vacation. Vienna, then the spa town Bad Ischl. Several other mountains in Austria offer summer skiing on their glaciers where I've been- Hintertux, and Stubaital which are close to Innsbruck. |

That is a crazy coachbuild DLX ! has long side windows, much like a Kohlruss, but also has extended corner windows. no roof glass but a sunroof. that makes it an 11 window DLX.
No rocker trim, but the knee height trim appears to be a lot bulkier than the 'Italian' trim on Kohlruss converted buses. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

^^ not sure whether due to some 'retouching' but the front corner of the bus is missing... _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Dig those long corner windows. The sunroof goes all the way to the rear hatch it appears unless that humping is something in the background. |
