I did find replacement speaker grills. I purchased used ones from eBay. They're ridiculously priced at $80 each here. Afterwards I found you can get brand new ones on eBay UK for $60 per pair. Here's a link

Thank you for sharing. I just ordered a set, now to see how long they take to get to Canada.

I don't know about you, but I am now searching CL regularly for parts. My van is getting pretty good, but still has needs. Passenger door panel has holes in it. This will not do.

<short aside, what's up with people posting CL ads and not responding to inquires/texts/calls. Weird>

Went up to the city and found this place

Down the hole. Here's a picture from inside.

Seriously, it was this dark. I did all my part removal by phone flashlight.

Scored the upper cover of the slider, and passenger door panel.

It's beginning to look picked over. There is still a fair amount of it left. I was happy with what I got, but disappointed that there wasn't more available.

For example, I haven't been able to find this torx screw that holds down the engine beauty cover. I have 2, but need more more.

I'm also looking for the battery cover, or whatever this screw is supposed to go into.

I forgot to look if it still had the hood heat blanket. I need 1 retraining clip

I'm also looking for the heat blanket from behind the battery. Mines been chewed on.

I was happy to pick up some misc hardware. Here's the depravity of my OCD. I was missing a screw holding on one of the center console covers. I replaced it with a hardware store bolt.

but now I have a factory one!

I bought from the same seller in early November. He was selling the whole van for $2000 at the time. I was able to get some missing headrests and armrests for my van. I'm think he's made over $2k selling it piece by piece.

This weekends project was to replace the pop up tent. My was beginning to look thin in places, was patched in others. Time to upgrade.

Here's the old top. Not bad from this angle, but has been patched.

Removed the bottom edge of the tent first. It's just like taking a screen apart.

And then 50 screws. I should have removed the corners first. Instead I left them to last and really struggled to get them out.

Then it was time to put the new top on. This one was made by Robbins. My previous experience with tops was in the Miata world - where the manufacture of the top was always advertised. I find it odd they are not in the VW world.

Looks great! Thanks for walking us through the steps.
Where did you source the tent from?

It was purchased through bus depot and shipped directly from robbins. I chose them primarily because they would accept my order. Other places were showing out of stock and not accepting back orders. I ordered in early January. It showed up late March. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it until summer and was surprised.

Smart looking van. Do you get wind noise or water intrusion without the "head band" spoiler?

I went ahead and ordered these eBay grills as well. They just showed up. As FYI, they are not OEM grills. They have been 3D printed. They look quality - I will be using them in my van.

Interesting question. I didn't know about the head band spoiler until I saw it on my neighbors van. I have one on order and am keen to see what difference it may make. I have some wind noise / intrusion from up there. Haven't had to deal with water intrusion - it doesn't rain in California anymore Sad It's april and all our creeks are beginning to dry out.

Took the van to the beach. Big wind-driven surf this weekend.

Awesome work. I've been meaning to do the same and even started designing an adapter to 3D print. If you 3D printed this, would you mind sharing the STL? I'd really appreciate it.

I didn't print this one, instead I purchased it from Uniworks. Their cupholder adapter is pretty good too. The only thing I had to do was create the wiring harness.
