Very small, but satisfying project today.

My jumpseat has always been missing a trim clip, and has a smear of yellow paint.

A trip to the dealer to pick up a clip, and some cleaner, and I feel whole again Smile

I'm the only one who will ever notice this. The sickness continues.....

There are a few missing screws in the van. Went to the dealer to find out they are 3.9mm self tapping screws. An assortment is on the way from Amazon....

The repaint looks fantastic. We have the same color EV, but significantly more "sun-baked" California issues. I have some questions about the Westy top. Looks like the black trim, rubber gasket surround and front air dam were in good condition before the paint job, did you replace any of those items or just have the shop reinstall the original? How did the shop care for and/or deal with Westy tent while prepping and spraying. Lastly, what did this cost you? Feel free to PM me that. LOL

I provided a replacement top seal. I had replaced the seal a year ago, but noticed it was beginning to come apart. I think I had the top latch too tight.

The shop masked off the tent. There was no overspray on it. It was massively dusty when I got the van back - they didn't think about needing to clean that part - the wash guys had never seen a camper top. A quick vacuum and it looks good as new.

Lest you think I was sitting on my hands while Nina was being repainted.....

I rebuilt the removable jumpseat. The cushion was feeling broken down - it wasn't comfortable putting my feet up for an adult beverage.

Here's a picture of pealing back the cushion cover.

Here you can see some foam damage but I didn't really get a good picture.

Cleaned inside cover. It took 4 washes to get the nasty greasy dirt out. You never want to see the underside of a seat cover.

There was some rust on the seat pan - so I rust treated and painted with POR15

Great job on the seat restored and photos. What is the best source for new replacement bottom cushions? From prior threads it seems many of the online sources are slightly too small and don't fit correctly.

You can still get seat foam from the dealer (front seats and jump seats only - the rear bench is NLA). I did try aftermarket and concur, they are the wrong size.

So here is a tiny update.

Nina was missing a bolt holding down her engine beauty cover.

Nina is very loving. Every time I stand in her open door, she closes it and whacks me on the butt.

Driver side window regulator broke this weekend. Replacement parts are on order. Good news is it was the cheapest window regulator I’ve ever purchased ($40!). Bad news is 4 week delivery.

While I was in the door making a temporary window fix, I had a chance to fix her door checks. They are old and do not hold the door open. The rubber boot was also looking sorry.

That's funny -- I just ordered new boots for my door checks.
Door checks are still working ok but my boots were cracked and broken.
Been waiting for them to arrive in stock via heritage and now they're available. Is that where you sourced as well?

I think so, but I’ve had them on my bench for a while. I finally got around to installing them. It’s a small detail, but still a nice change.

Decided to deal with the broken tabs on the under bench. The clips are a small 3d print. They glue in place.

I also repainted it all while it was out.

Here’s the final product.

A few pictures from camping at Kings Canyon National Park. It was 100F below in Fresno, but 70s (with rain) in the park. Nice place to be.

Oh, you're an inspiration! If you ever design a 3d print, magnetic replacement for the horrible clip-in system on the sliding door panel ... well, the world would be a better place.

I am going to have to tackle the slide door panel at some point. I've had it off once before, and I know a fair number of the black clips are detached from the panel. I'll post up whatever I do about it!

Nina lived most her life near the ocean. In many places the hardware shows it. The rear hatch guide brackets are corroded and have always bothered me.

I need to do something similar to the sliding door - but have a few other projects lined up first!

Hey there -- I'm presently replacing my rear hatch trims. The ones I sourced do not have snaps installed. Looks like you performed a similar task: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9830926#9830926

My cracked originals had snaps that were riveted into the plastic. I've reinforced the backsides of the new trims with fiberglass. I think I will either screw or (likely) bolt the new snaps into place.

What technique did you use to attach snaps to your new trims?
