I saw this on an old bus....from the taillights, it is probably from the early 50's. Do you know anything about this dealer? Pillenstein, Furth (needs the umlaut "u"...two dots over the "u") Germany.
Anybody have more dealer badge pictures or can dish me the link on the Samba.....

According to the website Pillenstein is a large car dealer and service
provider (car rental, insurances, etc) located in Fürth near Nuremberg
(Nürnberg). They even have a page with some historical data:
http://www.pillenstein.de/unternehmen/historie/index.53.html

Short extract:
Founded in 1924 by Johann Friedrich Pillenstein, who sold used bicycles,
sewing machines and baby carriages. In 1948 Oskar Pillenstein signed a
contract with Volkswagen and began to sell cars. 28 cars were sold
within the first year. Later they opened several other affiliates in
Fürth and nearby cities. Like many other VW dealers they started selling
Audi, too. Today they've got about 200 employees, selling 6000 vehicles
each year, with an annual turnover of 120 million EUR.

See their galleries with old pictures (what great pictures of the showroom with the bugs, fastbacks, squarebacks etc with open deck lids and the buses at the fuel pump):

Maybe good fodder for Everett's Factoids?!
