I'm looking to replace the floor pans on my 1969 Ghia Convertible. Jbugs sells them for $523 for a set, 18 gauge, European supplier.
CIP1 sells the "Klokkerholm" brand for $366 each, $732 for the pair. These are 16 Gauge.
Is it worth the extra $200? |

Hello...I purchased the Klokkerholm pans from CIP last month. I have not installed them and have only taken them out to inspect them. They appear to be quality pieces. Of course I am new to this and have nothing else to compare them to and I cannot as of yet comment on fitment.
I did do some research before and it appeared that the Klokkerholm pans were the best available at this time. The other pans have been used successfully as well. I don't know that the split corners on the other pans is a benefit as advertised by JBugs or simply a manufacturing short cut.
I did not see that the Klokkerholm pans were made of 16 gauge steel. I will say that thicker pans has to be a good thing.
My pans did have the holes for the pan bolts pre-drilled. I don't know if that is a benefit. I purchased the heater channels from JBugs and it looks like some but not all of the bolt holes line up. I haven't had a chance to do a better size-up due to work and bad weather.
Also, Both pans have a channel in the front portion of the pans for the heater vent cable that is only correct for a later year Ghias ('73 & '74?).
I am sure someone will be along to give better input... |

The cuts are to save costs and are a PITA to deal with. I would never buy cheap pans like that again.
I went with the ones from Thailand that have no channel like late pans and no cuts. They fit pretty well, my only beef being that the ear of the pans are like 72-74 pans and not like early ones.
Basically no one yet makes correct pans for pre 72 Ghias. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I also used the Volkstory BKK pans from Thailand. Very happy with the fit and quality of these. I would definitely not use the cheapo Jbugs pans, ever. But if I had to do it again, I would try the ones from M&T that c21darrel linked to, as they are the only other ones I know of that don't have the 72-74 heater cable arch that goes through the front half of the floorpan (Kokkerheim and Danks/Jbugs pans have the 72-74 arch), and the shipping cost will be way less than shipping from Thailand.

I'm getting ready to make the same purchase. From what I can tell, other than the Thai Volkstory product, there seem to be only 2 producers, JP Dansk and Klokkerholm, both in Denmark.
The JP Dansk product features slits in the corners of the pan and the Klokkerholm does not. Jbugs, M&T, Cip1 all sell the same product. If you are not sure what you are getting, just email and ask. I did, and Cip1 also said that the JP and Klokkerholm are both "about 19 gauge".
None of this of course helps me make my own decision. |

I just installed the Thai pans. Cut the rear ears to graft to the originals. _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

| Just like Era, I invested in the BBK pans. They ARE costly but it all depends on the buyers intentions... long term investment they are worth it, ease of installing (per my metalwork guy) they are less of a headache/finicky. Closest to gauge thickness to stock, And unless it’s a concourse Ghia who cares if the stamping pattern isn’t the same...is going to be covered by carpet and undercoating/POR-15!!If you plan on selling as a profit flip then it’s your option to make a profit but may not be much after installing...FYI I had previously bought the Dansk/Klommberge pans for a previous Ghia I had but lost them in a donor pan trade and they seemed flimsy! |
