I have a pair for EMPI 40 HPMX almost new on the engine my son built about 10 years ago. Now it is mine Smile Took it apart to find what's inside;
Engine is 74 x 92= 1968 cc, bigger valves and machined oval ports, W110 cam with 1,25 ratio rockers, lightened flywheel, deep oil sump and more, would these carbs be the best choice for this engine? It it the first car for my daughter so god mpg and that it runs nice is more important than the actual hp.

But strangely I found that the linkage to the throttle levers are located on different length from the center axis?

The left carb levers (figure 1) has only one hole for the linkage and the right (figure 2) has two holes but non match each others on cc to center axis. Any ideas?

Link to manual so you can se left & right levers

The 40's will be perfect. I would start with 32-34mm vents.

Most all the kits have messed up throttle arms. The arm with the bend has a different hole to pivot distance than the straight arm. This is never mentioned anywhere, but it will be impossible to sync the carbs through the whole range this way.

I prefer the CB linkage kit. It comes with new throttle arms that are matching. I cut the bend off the stock arm, and put the CB arm over it. The CB kit also comes with the good stiff cast filter base and top, and also the steel hex bar that won't flex like the aluminum cross bar.

Sounds resonable to me, thanks
I'm sure many people will not notice the messed arms Wink

It’s knowledge gained from experience.
Why these kind of Empi issues haven’t been fixed in decades is a complete mystery to me.
