1964 VW Beetle Advertising Campaigns in the UK

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone from the well informed forum population can help me with the above.

I'm trying to find uk newspaper adverts from 1964 from VW. I have restoration photos for my vehicle and thought it would be nice to also have newspaper clippings which I could frame and place it by my car when attending shows etc.

I have spoken with VW in england and they told me they could not help and told me to contact the stiftung automuseum but I'm still waiting for their reply since my enquiry a few weeks ago. I also keep looking on ebay regularly but no luck so far and I reaced out to a company called historic newspapers in the uk but they told me they could only carry out a 'manual' research of the papers they have and I would have to pay £30 per hour for someone to physically check each newspaper until they find a vw beetle advert.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar previously? Also, any advice/ideas would be greatfully appreciated as always.

alternatively visit your nearest main reference library to see if they have motoring magazines or even newspapers on file.
failing that, look for '64 magazines at autojumbles etc

I came to post what finster said so try that.

My first thought was eBay as I often see people posting ads removed from publications there.

When I was in college I had good lucky looking through the college library magazine and some newspaper archives for old ads.

I realize this is sort of a duplication of what he said so I guess just take it as a confirmation of what may work.
