Hey guys so I already have another thread up about my 69 fastback that I'm working on, but I figured I would make a new thread because the 67 fastback I have will be my main project and daily driver when it is finished! The 69 will get back into running order and I'll sell it to fund the rest of the 67 project.

So without further ado, the 67 and all its glory. So far I have the engine rebuild going on, and after that I'll drive it for awhile and then get the pans blasted and powder coated along with all the rest of the under side.

I do have a question about the paint and interior though. The VIN indicates that this car was made between Feb and March or 1967, and the paint is original L650 Granada Red (I'm assuming) so that makes the interior 90 platinum..but from the pictures 90 platinum looks so much more..silver and grey to me. My interior, which is all stock to my knowledge since everything is the same and the headliner has never been replaced looks more like a creamy color. More like 93 balearic beige...or somewhere along those lines. Does anyone have a picture of the 90 platinum laying around? I'm trying to get as close to stock as possible

Not much to report on, but today I finished up some of the painting for my engine and now All I have to do it wait for the rod to be rebushed and the flywheel resurfaced! Then off for the rebuild! If anyone could give some advice of the interior question I posted before this though I'd appreciate it haha.

Final pieces of the car are here, and if all goes according to plan the big heater exchanges with the tar wrapped are getting blasted and powder coated so I wont have to worry about those and on Saturday the engine will be rebuilt. Expect loads of pictures!

Pretty eventful day, got all of the pistons and cylinders on today and in another week or so will have the whole engine assembled. Here are some pictures!

I hate to reduce your enthusiasm, but it appears as though the connecting rod for #2 piston is installed upside-down in your second photo above. That rod is the one closest to the crank pulley. The small rectangular bump on the rod's shank must face upwards, like on all other rods. Hopefully you noticed and corrected that before you closed up the case.

Hmmm...now that you mention it..well in the book the crank is oriented a different way, could there be a possibility that the rod is supposed to be flipped "down" and have the hump be facing up? Because I'm almost positive that we installed them correctly. But I will for sure double check since we did not see that until right now already having the case sealed and everything Sad
Thank you for catching it, curious though what are the repercussions if it was ran with it being wrong?

Its been awhile since I've posted anything but dont worry I've been moving right along. I just got the finishing touches on the engine and itll be put in the car within the follow week or so hopefully. I just refurbished my heater boxes to make them look and feel and work like new so I thought I'd show everyone. I also got all the locks rekeyed on the car.

Heaterbox Rebuild

First, they were sand blasted down to bare metal by my dad, and they actually came out really clean which I was surprised to find since they were covered in old oil.

Then I sprayed everything with Dupli-Color engine enamel super high temp primer and gloss black. The gloss black comes out really thick and jet-like so be careful when using this stuff..

Then I bought super high temp wrap that stands up to 2000 degrees continuous heat and wrapped them up. I also used generic stainless clamps.

You should consider being more liberal with the grease, just in case you don't get oil pressure right away Shocked

Just giving you a hard time, looking good, and I am looking forward to seeing it running

Regards,
Jeff

This weekend marked the first time the car has run in a very long time, and it ran great and strong. It isnt quite home yet as there are still some things to do to it at my grandpa's shop, but so far it is looking and sounding extremely good. Well not necessarily looking good Razz

I'm hoping within the next week or so she'll be home and I'll be able to drive her like she wants to be driven. After that its time for slow body work panel by panel and eventually a body off pan resto. Thats all for later though Razz

Hey guys I know its been awhile, but as for an update I've just been driving and working on little things here and there. New master cylinder so the brakes work great, this baby runs like a champ. Its extremely fun to drive and its so responsive. Grandpa did a great job on the engine Twisted Evil

But I do have some updates, I'm starting to do some body work to make it look cosmetically pleasing for my eyes.

Body Work

Passenger front fender had some rust issues on the bottom corner

High grade honda metal was used as the donor metal (lol)

This is the fender on the top, found amazingly close to stock red paint for dirt cheap. Rolling Eyes

Nothing like some panel bond. This stuff is literally amazing. Bare metal + panel bond = no more rust and amazing strength. Didnt want to be bothered with welding just yet.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Cleaned up the inner fender, looks nice to me.

NEXT UP, THE FRONT APRON. I've already got a start on that and boy..theres some work to be done..Might just get a replacement front apron who knows.

This project is pumping me up man. I have a 67 fastback sitting in the garage waiting for me to start ripping it apart and this is giving the needed motivation. Great job man, keep us posted with the progress!
